Telford Brewery

As we hear a number of pubs are struggling to survive the credit crunch, a Telford man's setting up his own brewery.

Jim Preston starting making organic beers just before Christmas at Rowton Brewery on his farm near Telford.

He brews Rowton Bitter (a lower strength light refreshing bitter) and Meteorite (stronger fuller flavoured premium ale).

Meteorite is named after an iron meteorite which landed in Rowton in 1876 not far from the brewery.

He told Beacon Radio he's well aware it's not the ideal time to be setting up a new business: "I'm keeping my overheads very low, I'm pretty much a one man band.  If I keep brewing very good beer I think people will always pop out for a good pint.  I'm in four pubs permanently already, but I want to keep it fairly local, within a 15 mile radius of the brewery."

"A lot of local people helped me set the brewery up; most of them have tried it.  It's been accepted very well, everyone seems to love it."
